Dr. Paul Krause, who strives to bring a well-rounded, holistic approach to his patients’ lives, leads better Back and Body. He attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994. He began an Eastside chiropractic office the following year and has been practicing at his current Juanita Beach chiropractic office since 2008.

WHAT INSPIRED DR. KRAUSE?

Dr. Krause was in a head on collision and a rollover car accident before the age of 12.  He was unfortunately an unbelted passenger in both accidents.  In each of the accidents no one was severely injured and recovery seemed quick.  As a teenager, Dr. Krause suffered an injury to his lower back playing high school basketball.

He was referred to the only chiropractor in the small town in eastern Washington where he grew up and X-rays showed prior injury to Dr. Krause’s spine from the automobile accidents he was in as a child.  The chiropractor explained how the injuries from the automobile accidents never healed properly from not treating them and how that caused problems and spinal changes over the years.  Even though it appeared that everyone was okay from the automobile accidents, the chiropractor explained that the spinal changes were beginning to take their toll.  He outlined a treatment plan of chiropractic adjustments and after a series of adjustments the lower back pain settled down and Dr. Krause was back to his normal routine after a few weeks.  He has continued his chiropractic care being a regular chiropractic patient since the age of 17.

While in chiropractic school, Dr. Krause met and started treating alongside Dr. Vern Pierce. Dr. Pierce had developed a chiropractic adjusting style that resonated with Dr. Krause.  He began to use that technique while in student clinic with great success and continuted to refine the method over the past 25 years to obtain  exceptional results as a modern chiropractor in Kirkland.

Today, Dr. Krause cares for people of all ages with a variety of health conditions and enjoys teaching his patients and the public about health and wellness. When not in the office, Dr. Krause can often be found working on cars, traveling and spending time with his family. He lives in Kirkland, WA.

Car accidents can take a serious toll on your body, even if injuries aren’t immediately obvious. The sudden impact can strain muscles, joints, and the spine, leading to discomfort that may worsen over time. Seeking prompt care is essential for proper recovery, and chiropractic treatment is a popular, non-invasive option for addressing accident-related injuries. By focusing on alignment, mobility, and natural healing, chiropractic care can help you get back to feeling your best. At Better Back and Body, our local chiropractic office provides expert auto injury therapy in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four ways you can benefit from chiropractic care after a car accident. Relief from Pain and Discomfort One of the primary benefits of chiropractic care is pain relief. Injuries such as whiplash, back strain, and joint misalignment can cause ongoing discomfort. Chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine and reduce pressure on nerves, which can alleviate pain in the neck, back, and other areas affected by the accident. Improved Mobility and Flexibility After an accident, it’s common to experience stiffness and reduced range of motion. Chiropractic treatments focus on restoring proper joint function, which can improve flexibility and make everyday movements easier. As mobility improves, you may find it easier to return to your normal routine. Reduced Need for Medication Chiropractic care offers a drug-free approach to managing pain and recovery. Instead of relying on medications that may only mask symptoms, chiropractic treatments aim to address the root cause of discomfort. This can be especially appealing for individuals looking to avoid potential side effects associated with pain medications. Early Detection of Hidden Injuries Not all injuries are immediately noticeable after a car accident. Some symptoms may take days or even weeks to appear. A chiropractor can perform a thorough evaluation to identify underlying issues before they worsen. Early detection allows for timely treatment and can help prevent long-term complications. Neck pain is a widespread issue that affects people of all ages and lifestyles. Whether it develops gradually or appears suddenly, discomfort in the neck can interfere with daily activities, sleep, and overall well-being. While some cases do resolve on their own, others require professional attention to prevent long-term problems. Understanding the most common causes of neck pain can help you identify potential triggers and take steps toward relief. Here are five frequent causes to be aware of. At Better Back and Body, our local chiropractor’s office is highly experienced with treating neck pain in Kirkland, WA. Here’s a look at four common sources of neck pain. Poor Posture One of the leading causes of neck pain is poor posture, especially during long periods of sitting or screen use. Slouching, leaning forward, or holding your head in an unnatural position can strain the muscles and ligaments in your neck. Ensuring proper ergonomics at your workstation and maintaining good posture throughout the day can significantly reduce strain. Injuries/Whiplash Neck injuries, particularly from car accidents or sports, can result in a condition known as whiplash. This occurs when the head is suddenly forced forward and backward, stretching the soft tissues beyond their normal range. Symptoms may include pain, stiffness, headaches, and reduced range of motion. Prompt evaluation is important to prevent complications. Muscle Strain and Overuse Everyday activities such as lifting heavy objects, sudden movements, or even sleeping in an awkward position can lead to muscle strain. Repetitive motions or overuse of the neck muscles can also cause stiffness and discomfort. While these strains are commonly temporary, they can become more persistent without adequate rest and care. Degenerative Conditions As people age, natural wear and tear can affect the structures in the neck. Conditions such as osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease can lead to chronic pain and stiffness. Chiropractic care is often helpful in treating symptoms of these conditions. Chronic back and neck pain can significantly impact your quality of life, limiting your ability to work, exercise, or even sleep comfortably. Conditions such as herniated discs, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease often result from pressure placed on the spine and surrounding nerves. Spinal decompression therapy is a non-invasive treatment designed to gently stretch the spine and relieve that pressure. For many individuals, it offers meaningful relief without the need for surgery. At Better Back & Body, we specialize in spinal decompression in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here’s a look at four advantages of spinal decompression therapy. Non-Surgical Pain Relief One of the biggest advantages of spinal decompression is that it provides a non-surgical option for addressing chronic spine-related pain. The treatment uses controlled traction to create negative pressure within spinal discs. This process can help reposition bulging or herniated discs, reducing nerve compression. For patients who want to avoid the risks and recovery time associated with surgery, spinal decompression offers an appealing alternative. Reduced Nerve Pressure Spinal decompression specifically targets pressure on spinal nerves, which is often the root cause of pain. By gently stretching the spine, the therapy helps relieve compression on affected nerves. Reduced nerve pressure can lead to improved comfort and fewer radiating symptoms, such as those associated with sciatica or pinched nerves. Enhanced Mobility and Flexibility Chronic spinal compression can lead to stiffness and reduced range of motion. As pressure is relieved and inflammation decreases, many patients experience improved flexibility and mobility. Increased movement can make daily activities easier and more comfortable. Whether bending, lifting, or walking, improved spinal function helps people return to a more active lifestyle. Reduced Risk of Medication Dependence Many individuals with chronic back pain rely on pain medications to manage daily discomfort. While medication can provide temporary relief, long-term use may come with unwanted side effects and potential dependency concerns. Spinal decompression aims to treat the underlying mechanical issue causing the pain rather than simply dulling the symptoms. As pain levels decrease naturally through therapy, patients may find they rely less on medication.
