Dr. Paul Krause, who strives to bring a well-rounded, holistic approach to his patients’ lives, leads better Back and Body. He attended Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994. He began an Eastside chiropractic office the following year and has been practicing at his current Juanita Beach chiropractic office since 2008.

WHAT INSPIRED DR. KRAUSE?

Dr. Krause was in a head on collision and a rollover car accident before the age of 12.  He was unfortunately an unbelted passenger in both accidents.  In each of the accidents no one was severely injured and recovery seemed quick.  As a teenager, Dr. Krause suffered an injury to his lower back playing high school basketball.

He was referred to the only chiropractor in the small town in eastern Washington where he grew up and X-rays showed prior injury to Dr. Krause’s spine from the automobile accidents he was in as a child.  The chiropractor explained how the injuries from the automobile accidents never healed properly from not treating them and how that caused problems and spinal changes over the years.  Even though it appeared that everyone was okay from the automobile accidents, the chiropractor explained that the spinal changes were beginning to take their toll.  He outlined a treatment plan of chiropractic adjustments and after a series of adjustments the lower back pain settled down and Dr. Krause was back to his normal routine after a few weeks.  He has continued his chiropractic care being a regular chiropractic patient since the age of 17.

While in chiropractic school, Dr. Krause met and started treating alongside Dr. Vern Pierce. Dr. Pierce had developed a chiropractic adjusting style that resonated with Dr. Krause.  He began to use that technique while in student clinic with great success and continuted to refine the method over the past 25 years to obtain  exceptional results as a modern chiropractor in Kirkland.

Today, Dr. Krause cares for people of all ages with a variety of health conditions and enjoys teaching his patients and the public about health and wellness. When not in the office, Dr. Krause can often be found working on cars, traveling and spending time with his family. He lives in Kirkland, WA.

Back pain is one of the most common physical complaints and can affect people of all ages and lifestyles. It can range from mild discomfort that improves with rest to persistent pain that interferes with everyday activities. Because the back supports nearly every movement your body makes, many different factors can contribute to soreness, stiffness, or injury. Understanding the common causes of back pain can help you take steps to protect your spine, improve your habits, and seek appropriate care when needed. At Better Back & Body, our team can help with addressing your back pain at our chiropractor’s office in Kirkland, WA. Here are four common reasons people experience back pain. Poor Posture and Body Mechanics One of the most common causes of back pain is poor posture. Spending long periods sitting at a desk, looking down at electronic devices, or standing with improper alignment can place extra strain on the muscles and structures of the back. Poor lifting techniques, such as bending at the waist instead of using your legs, can also increase the risk of injury. Maintaining proper posture and practicing safe movement habits can reduce unnecessary stress on your spine. Muscle Strains and Sprains Back pain often develops after muscles, ligaments, or other soft tissues become overstretched or injured. Lifting heavy objects, sudden movements, intense physical activity, and twisting motions can cause strains and sprains in the back. These injuries may result in soreness, stiffness, and limited mobility. Allowing time for recovery and using proper techniques during physical activities can help prevent many common back injuries. Lack of Physical Activity A sedentary lifestyle can contribute to back pain by weakening the muscles that support the spine. When core and back muscles are not strong enough to provide proper support, everyday movements can place additional strain on the spine and surrounding tissues. Regular exercise, stretching, and activities that strengthen supporting muscles can improve back health. Degenerative Changes and Aging As people get older, natural wear and tear can affect the spine. Conditions such as arthritis and disc degeneration may develop over time and contribute to chronic back discomfort. These changes can reduce flexibility and cause inflammation. While age-related changes can’t always be prevented, there are still effective ways to help manage the symptoms. Many people associate chiropractic care with back pain, but chiropractors can help address a wide variety of musculoskeletal issues that affect daily comfort and mobility. Whether symptoms develop gradually from poor posture or suddenly after an injury, chiropractic treatment may help improve function and reduce discomfort. If you're experiencing persistent aches, stiffness, or movement limitations, it may be time to consider a professional evaluation. At Better Back and Body, we provide expert chiropractic care in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four signs that you could benefit from seeing a chiropractor. Persistent Back or Neck Pain Ongoing back or neck pain is one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care. Discomfort can result from poor posture, repetitive movements, long hours at a desk, or physical strain. If pain continues despite rest or over-the-counter remedies, a chiropractor may be able to identify underlying alignment or mobility issues contributing to the problem. Frequent Headaches Tension headaches are often linked to muscle tightness and joint dysfunction in the neck and upper back. Poor posture, stress, and prolonged screen time can all contribute to headache symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments and other treatments may help reduce tension . Limited Range of Motion If you find it difficult to turn your head, bend comfortably, or move certain joints through their full range of motion, it could indicate musculoskeletal restrictions. Joint stiffness and reduced mobility can affect daily activities and overall quality of life. Chiropractic care often focuses on restoring proper movement and flexibility. Discomfort After an Accident or Injury Even minor car accidents, sports injuries, or slips and falls can create lingering pain and stiffness. Sometimes symptoms do not appear immediately after an injury. If you’re experiencing discomfort, reduced mobility, or soreness following an accident, a chiropractor can evaluate your condition and recommend an appropriate treatment plan. Neck pain is a common issue that can affect people of all ages, especially those who spend long hours sitting at desks, looking at screens, or performing repetitive tasks. Poor posture, muscle strain, stress, and improper sleeping positions can all contribute to stiffness and discomfort in the neck area. While occasional soreness may seem minor, ongoing neck pain can interfere with daily activities and reduce overall quality of life. If you’re experiencing persistent neck pain, then you could benefit from going to an experienced chiropractor. At Better Back and Body, we provide expert chiropractic care in the greater Kirkland, WA area. Here are four tips for preventing neck pain. Maintain Good Posture Poor posture is one of the leading causes of neck discomfort. Slouching or leaning forward while using a computer or phone places extra strain on the neck muscles and spine. Keeping your head aligned over your shoulders and sitting upright can help reduce unnecessary tension. Proper posture becomes especially important during long periods of sitting. Adjust Your Workstation An improperly set up workstation can contribute to chronic neck strain. Your computer monitor should be positioned at eye level so you don’t constantly tilt your head. Using a supportive chair can also help improve body positioning throughout the day. Small ergonomic adjustments can make a significant difference over time. Take Frequent Stretch Breaks Remaining in the same position for extended periods can cause stiffness and muscle tension in the neck and shoulders. Taking short breaks to stand, stretch, and gently move the neck throughout the day helps improve circulation and reduce tightness. Simple stretches and movement can help prevent discomfort from building up. Manage Stress and Muscle Tension Stress often causes people to tighten their neck and shoulder muscles without realizing it. Chronic tension can lead to soreness and stiffness. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, stretching, and massage may help reduce muscle tension and support better overall neck comfort. Managing stress can play an important role in preventing recurring neck pain.
